The word Mistiko translates to mystic. Candied Calamari use this word to describe the importance of ritual and the scared treatment of objects in their performance/installation at SOIL Gallery.Mistiko will display live actresses engaging in sacramental action in a futuristic landscape. The space will be altered by the actions of the performers throughout an hour long performance. The space will remain altered with the residual evidence of activity for the remainder of the exhibition.

Candied Calamari is a collaboration between artists Rachel Debuque and Danielle Peters. Debuque and Peters met at the University of Georgia and formed their collaboration over an interest in pattern, performance, and color.

About Candied Calamari

We are Dana Peters and Rachel Debuque. Candied Calamari is a collaboration that was formed in graduate school at the University of Georgia. We found mutual interest in the intersection of performance, design, sculpture, and installation. We are currently working toward a show at SOIL gallery in Seattle, Washington. We will be posting our ideas, trials, and tribulations on this blog to document our process.
